Khi chiếc ĐTDĐ Symbian của bạn gặp lỗi về phần mềm mà không khắc phục được, bạn thường nghĩ ngay đến việc Format máy, điều này đồng nghĩa với việc bạn sẽ mất hết dữ liệu trong máy, từ danh bạ, lịch, tin nhắn, cho đến các phần mềm và trò chơi đã được cài đặt trong đó. Có một cách hay hơn đó là tạo một bản ghost (sao lưu) HĐH của máy để bạn có thể phục hồi lại máy nguyên trạng như mới khi cần. Như thế bạn sẽ không mất thời gian chép lại dữ liệu và cài lại tất cả ứng dụng và game yêu thích. Cách làm như sau:

I. TẠO BẢN SAO LƯU:

Trước tiên, bạn nên cài trước các ứng dụng mà bạn hay sử dụng, để sau này phục hồi bạn không cần phải cài đặt lại chúng.
Sau đó bạn vào Menu > Tools > Memory. Tại đây, bạn vào tiếp menu Options > Backup phone mem. Máy sẽ hỏi xác nhận bạn có muốn tạo bản Backup hay không, bạn bấm Yes.
Quá trình sao lưu sẽ diễn ra khá nhanh, thử nghiệm trên chiếc N73 đã cài rất nhiều phần mềm cho thấy thời gian sao lưu chưa tới 1 phút.

2. LƯU TRỮ VÀO MÁY TÍNH:

Sau khi quá trình sao lưu diễn ra xong, trong thẻ nhớ sẽ xuất hiện thêm một file mới tên là “Backup.arc” nằm trong thư mục ẩn X:Backup (X là tên ổ đĩa thẻ nhớ, ví dụ E:Backup).

Để cho an toàn, bạn nên chép file backup này vào trong máy tính để lưu giữ, để lỡ khi thẻ nhớ có hư thì ta vẫn còn một bản trong máy tính. Bạn rút thẻ nhớ điện thoại ra và cắm vào đầu đọc thẻ trên máy tính, sau đó copy file Backup.arc vào máy tính. Lưu ý, thư mục Backup là thư mục ẩn, bạn phải mở chức năng hiện file ẩn của Windows thì mới thấy được (Vào Tools > Folder Options... > View > Show hidden files and folders...).

3. PHỤC HỒI LẠI HĐH:

Để phục hồi lại HĐH, bạn vào Menu > Tools > Memory, chọn tiếp Options > Restore from card.

Máy sẽ hỏi xác nhận việc phục hồi HĐH, bấm Yes. Quá trình phục hồi cũng diễn ra nhanh chóng, trong lúc phục hồi, bạn không nên chạy bất cứ một ứng dụng nào khác để tránh làm ảnh hưởng đến quá trình làm việc của máy.

Xong, bấm OK để máy tự khởi động lại và hoàn tất việc phục hồi. Và từ đây, điện thoại của bạn sẽ chạy ổn định y như lúc trước khi sao lưu, với đầy đủ các phần mềm mà bạn đã cài trước đó.
