Tên khoa học là Cynara scolymus L. Tính mát, vị đắng nhạt, hương thơm dịu. Ac-ti-sô chuyên trị các bệnh gan khó trị như: viêm gan mãn tính; xơ gan cổ trướng lâu năm biến dạng bụng to, da vàng, phù thũng, mắt vàng; chức năng gan suy giảm, biến chứng viêm thận, người luôn mệt mỏi, mạng sườn bên phải luôn đau âm ỉ, ổ ngực tức, miệng đắng, ngán ăn, tiểu tiện khó, tiểu nhắt, mụn nhọt nổi khắp mặt, miệng lưỡi đắng, nhiều bợn bã trắng đóng ở lưỡi gây hôi miệng..

Đây là triệu chứng của gan bị thiếu mật, không thông mật, tỳ hư. Ac-ti-sô giúp kiện tỳ, thanh nhiệt, lợi mật bằng cách chế biến thành món ăn, đơn thuốc qua trị liệu và thử nghiệm lâm sàng cho rất nhiều bệnh nhân kết hợp với chế độ dinh dưỡng hợp lý, kết quả đạt mức 88,47% và 72,58%.

Trị thân nhiệt nóng, da mặt nổi mụn nhọt, bọc mủ, mẩn ngứa: dùng 300gr ac-ti-sô cả thân, rễ rửa sạch, cắt khúc 3cm, phơi thật khô (hoặc sao khử thổ vàng), sắc với 1 lít nước 1/3 muỗng muối hạt (hoặc bọt) còn 700ml. Uống giải khát như nước, liền trong 7 ngày.

Gan viêm mãn tính, tỳ hư, mật thiếu

ùng 350gr bông ac-ti-sô, tách từng đài hoa rửa sạch, 250gr thịt nạc lợn, 150gr gan lợn rửa sạch, thái lát mỏng, 5gr bột nghệ (hoặc 20gr nghệ tươi giã nát), 1/3 muỗng muối, 1/3 muỗng đường, ½ muỗng bột nêm. Thịt nạc hoặc gan lợn ướp đều với muối, bột nêm, đường để khoảng 15 phút. Hoa ac-ti-sô xào qua với 2 muỗng dầu thực vật. Nấu với 1 lít nước, sôi khoảng 20 phút, cho thịt vào nấu tiếp còn 500ml, nhấc xuống, ăn trong ngày, liên tục 7-10 ngày. Bài thuốc này không những có tác dụng bổ gan, tiêu thực, thanh nhiệt mà còn ngăn ngừa biến chứng từ viêm qua ung thư gan.

Xơ gan cổ trướng lâu năm biến chứng đau tức ngực, sườn, miệng đắng, chát, hôi, biếng ăn, mệt mỏi: dùng 1kg gan lợn rửa sạch, thái nhỏ hạt lựu (hoặc sợi nhuyễn), 150gr nghệ tươi thái mỏng, sao khử thổ vàng, giã nát, 350gr bông, thân actisô tươi băm nhuyễn, 10 quả hồng táo, 20gr nhân trần, 20gr mạch nha (3 thứ này mua ở hiệu thuốc Đông y). Cho gan lợn và nghệ vào 1.500ml nước, đun sôi khoảng 30 phút, cho 3 thứ táo, nhân trần, mạch nha vào, thêm ½ muỗng đường, 1/3 muỗng bột nêm. Nấu còn 1.000ml, chắt nước uống 6 lần/ngày, xác ăn 2 lần/ngày, da sẽ hồng hào, thông tiểu, khỏe hẳn sau 10 ngày ăn.

Mật suy giảm, có triệu chứng sỏi mật ảnh hưởng đến gan bị suy yếu, ăn kém, người gầy, sắc da mặt tối, nám, môi thâm, bụng, cổ nổi gân xanh (do giãn tĩnh mạch), miệng khô khát, nước tiểu vàng, ứ huyết: dùng 1kg thân, hoa, rễ ac-ti-sô, 350gr chè xanh, băm nhuyễn cả hai, sao khử thổ vừa vàng; 1 con cá diếc 250gr, 100gr đậu xanh để cả vỏ. Cá làm sạch vảy, bỏ ruột, giữ lại bong bóng và trứng, 5gr gừng tươi thái sợi. Cá và đậu xanh nấu trong 3 chén nước đầy, sôi 10 phút cho thêm ac-ti-sô, chè xanh, gừng và nêm nếm gia vị vừa ăn. Đun lửa nhỏ, sau 20 phút vớt cá ra ăn, nước uống 3 lần/ngày. Ac-ti-sô cho hợp chất flavonoid có tác dụng tăng tiết mật, bảo vệ gan; chè xanh có tác dụng rửa lọc gan sạch; cá diếc và đậu xanh liên kết phá ứ đọng huyết. Kết hợp các dược liệu này giúp người bệnh phục hồi sức khỏe, da dẻ hồng hào.
